Mark 9:14-29

In Mark 9, we encounter the disciples unable to cast out a demon from a boy. The desperate father begs Jesus to save his son, saying, "If you can."

Jesus replies that "all things can be done for one who believes." This does not mean that anyone who believes will get whatever they want.

The demon is said only to be able to come out only through prayer. But we don't read of Jesus praying. There is more going on in this passage than we first see.
