November Sermon Series:  The Wedding of Jesus,
Do you wrestle with your identity?
The world wants you to believe some crazy and distorted concepts about self.  As Christians we must return to scripture to learn who we are in Christ.  
God has declared us to be his bride.  Throughout scripture there is a theme that we should identify as those who have a healthy, intimate, passionate, growing relationship with Jesus Christ.  
Join us this November as we look at the passages in Scripture where God emphasizes our identity, declares his glory and  the wonder of His relationship with us.
“By offering the cup, Jesus was asking His disciples (and us) to be His spiritual bride.
Communion—This public display of affection wasn’t just Jesus offering bread and wine as a symbol of His body, which would be broken for the remission of our sins. In Jewish custom a man who wanted to propose marriage to his beloved poured a cup of wine and offered it to her to drink. She could refuse the cup, thereby refusing his proposal, or she could drink from the cup, in essence saying, “I accept your offer.”  By offering the cup, Jesus was asking His disciples (and us) to be His spiritual bride:  After supper he took another cup of wine and said, “This cup is the new covenant between God and his people—an agreement confirmed with my blood, which is poured out as a sacrifice for you.” (Luke 22:20).”
