Is God still Lord over the chaos

In the Genesis creation account God is over the water and the earth is formless and void. The Hebrew words for formless and void are tôhûw, bôhûw. In English, we translate these words as emptiness. When they are coupled with the idea of water there is an understanding that there is chaos in the emptiness but God rules over the chaos. The question today is, does God still rule over the chaos and emptiness?
The gospel writer, Mark understood this Biblical concept of water, chaos, and emptiness, and thus the significance of Jesus' miracle calming the sea in Mark, chapter 4. Jesus was making a statement that God was still master over the sea and the chaos and he still is today.
