Mark 1 Jesus has authority over demons

The orgional audence of Jesus would have been looking for the Messiah to perform certain signs. One of the actions the Messiah should undertake was the casting out of demons. In Mark 1:21-28 we see Jesus excorcising a demon and those who gathered are amazed. The demon confesses knowledge of Jesus' identity before he is excorcized, and called Jesus the Holy One of God. The passage establishes the co quest of the Kigndom of God over the demonic forces of darkness and sets the stage for the ultimate battle for the souls of humanity.
