A disciple is someone who has a healthy, intimate, passionate, growing, relationship with Jesus Christ. That means that they are seeking to love God with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength (Mark 12:30).
The basic idea is that we love God with everything we are.
It can be difficult to maintain the tension between the mind, (we need to know God in order to trust Him). And the heart (we trust God because of who He is).
To keep these two crucial areas in proper tension and emphasis we have created an online program utilizing in house resources as well as links from other trusted sources. We believe that the list of classes and taking the listed discipleship steps will best equip someone to move closer to Jesus on their discipleship journey.
Step 1: The first step of discipleship include surrendering your life to Jesus, getting baptized and participating regularly in church community. The goal in the first step is to develop a healthy, intimate, passionate, growing, relationship with Jesus Christ. To often new believers forget that our salvation is based on our relationship with God and not our works. At Faith Ignited we want to help people develop their relationship with Christ and get to know the God they love.
There are two classes we recommend as introduction to Christianity classes that are offered regularly at Faith Ignited:
Step 2: The second step in the discipleship journey includes the surrender of three areas of our lives God has asked us to manage for him, our time, treasures, and talents. At Faith Ignited we believe that all we have is God's and we are called to be ambassadors of what He has entrusted us with. The second step on the discipleship path includes serving in a ministry with in the cand serving and outside of the church. Step two also includes regular tithing. As with all relationships, the priority of God should be reflected in all areas of our life.
There are three classes that we recommend to help people move toward Jesus they include:
Step 3: The third step outlined in our discipleship journey involves participating in a mission trip. We believe that there is no better way to accelerate the growth of Christian faith than by immersing yourself into a mission field. This can be a local or international mission trip. Jesus said "Go make disciples..." We believe that command starts within our own home and extends into all the earth. Therefore we believe that during the third step of the discipleship process that disciples will be mentoring other new disciples. During the third step of discipleship a believer will also recognize that they need a small group to maintain healthy relationships within the body of Christ and be loved and challenged to move toward Jesus.
